I'm Back!
Did you miss me? I wish I could say it was a horrible week without the blog, but alas I would be lying! I didn't say before for obvious safety reasons, but we had our big vacation in FL. It was so beautiful! Feeling very blessed for the time away with family!

The Southwest Times Record has an online "deal finder" in which, if you are signed up, they will send you emails for good deals at local participating merchants. Most of the deals are usually good, but today's deal is REALLY good. It is for a $30 voucher to Rib-Eye Steak & Seafood House for only $15. I got three jars yesterday (with my daughter and husband's help) - all for less than $1!
All of the other things in the paper were things I couldn't help but think about what DeAnna has said about going to Price Cutter and getting double coupons. Just makes sense. Besides, Price Cutter will take Internet coupons where CV's won't.

Jacque told me a while back to make sure I walk around a store I am in. They sometimes have clearance items and things on sale that are not in the paper. Boy! am I glad she gave me that advice!
$58.59 value for $12.37 (but I also recieved 2 $5 rewards) So, spent $2 to get almost $60.
The cereal was in the add paper 4/$10, used a $1.25/3, and got the $5 reward. So was like spending .94 per box =-)
The breakfast bars were the same exact deal =-) The coupon only shows cereal but they took it for the bars. Woohoo! and those were NOT advertised in the paper.
Rubbermaid containers were advertised at 2/$5 but they rung up at 1/$1.99. Used my coupon $1/2. Got all 8 containers for $3.

Okay, not really, but I got that song stuck in your head didn't I?! Sorry, had to do it!
I am not leaving on a Jet Plane, I am deathly afraid of heights and wouldn't dream of it! I am however going on vacation. Technically speaking it starts today, however I can still pop in from time to time until late Friday when my husband sees my phone and tosses it out the window, lol! Our family vacation starts this week and runs through next. As much as it pains me, and it does, I have to leave the computer off and my phone with Internet access put away andmy coupon book, lets not go too far!
The blog will be in excellent hands with my fellow Bloggers, Hope and DeAnna. Please keep in mind that they are couponers in training and have lots of patience. Okay, I have been couponing for a while now and I have worked hard to learn everything I can. At first I was foolish and thought I could only get groceries and toiletires for free. Silly naive little me, HA! Well now that I am a little (and I do mean little) older and much wiser I know better. And because I think all my readers are entitled to be a little older , lets just go with wiser, I am going to share a few secrets with you!
My first one is Kohls, now you may already know this and be doing it, but I want to make absolutely sure you are doing it right! Sign up at kohl's.com and register to receive their emails. They will reward you with a $5.00 coupon right off the bat! Plus 10% off your first online order. Take the $5.00 reward coupon to Kohls, search the perimeter of the store for the big Clearance signs. And find the racks for 75% to 90% off, yes they do exist.
Let me give you an example of why:
I signed up, got my coupon, and took it to Khols this weekend. We didn't have a lot of time and were on a mission to find some shirts for my husband, so we hit the clearance racks in the Men's section. They had several racks from 75% to 90% off. Of course I headed straight for the big time, 90% off here I come!! They had amazing deals on mens items, I could not believe the dress shirts they had. Brands like Chaps and Arrow, marked down to $4.00! My husband doesn't have to dress like that for work, nor would he probably if he had to! So we looked at the more casual stuff. We found a long sleeve shirt for $4.00 and a long sleeve shirt for $2.80. Nice shirts too, not ugly or cheap. Using my $5.00 coupon we paid a total of $1.97 for both shirts.
Using coupons from stores to buy items on clearance will land tons of free or nearly free items. I am a big fan of consigning, but this is even better. Brand new clothes for better than rock bottom prices. I will be doing a break down in the next day or two of sale cycles that are coming up not only for food and supplies, but for clothing as well. Today I got (8) boxes of Colgate Total Advanced Whitening 4 oz toothpaste for a grand total of $2.87, courtesy of Family Dollar's clearance shelf and eight coupons. I was a good couponer and didn't clear the shelves during my visit - Family Dollar still has several boxes of this toothpaste. I can now add toothpaste to the list of items we are GOOD on for the next several months!
Papers
In case you didn't know, you can now buy papers at Wal-Mart and Walgreens. I love this option for 2 reasons. #1 You don't have to have quarters. #2 You are much less likely to get a paper that has had the coupons removed. There are some gas stations that also sell them inside. E-Z Mart is one.

Storing Your Stockpile
One of the first questions a new couponer has is "Where do you put all that stuff?" A good thing about couponing is before long you will need to clean out those closets, something most of us put off, but now we have no choice! LOL! Keep in mind I live in a small trailer, space is something I just don't have, so I am always on the look out for creative storage solutions.
Here are a few suggestions:

- Shoe Organizers that hang over the door are great for pantry doors. They can hold tons of stuff, like mixes, spices, candy, snacks, crackers, etc. And best of all you can make the bottom row things that you don't mind your children getting to so they can get their own snacks!
- One thing to always keep in mind is using a bin or drawer for certain items works out great. When you get home, anything that can be taken out of the box take it out, mark the date with a sharpie on outside packaging if necessary and put it in a bin or drawer. Boxes take up much more space than individual packages.
- A storage bin works great for items that can be placed out in the garage. Things like feminine products, hair care products that aren't under pressure, razors, cotton swabs, etc, can be placed in a bin and put in the garage on a shelf. Out of the way and if you use a clear tub, easy to find.
- Think creatively too. A lot of people have unused furniture sitting around and don't even think about it. Think of a dresser stored in your garage, a desk that is just holding a lamp might have a drawer for excess school supplies, night stands often have cabinets in them that you could put tissues or toilet paper in.
- Clean out those closets and under those cabinets. I am the worlds worst for having a messy closet, but there is nothing like finding a great deal on toilet paper or paper towels to make you shape up really quick! A lot of times this will help you in the long run anyway. You might find clothes or shoes that could go in a garage sale or to a resale shop.

Let's say you are a huge fan of a certain product and you know it is going on sale next week at the lowest price ever. And you have a 4 of the coupons for the product, but that just isn't enough. How do you go about getting more? The short answer is Ebay.

Ebay has tons of dealers that have coupons sorted, clipped and ready to send, usually in quantities of 10 or 20. This method is a little more expensive, but considering they have to have time to ship them to me, I would rather go with this option.

Kroger Trip
Me and the boys tagged along with Josh during one of his work trips to Jonesboro Wednesday and Thursday. While there, we went to a Kroger grocery store and found some good deals. Below is what I got for $42.18. I had to sign up for a Kroger Shopper's Card, but the process was nothing more than a short application which only took about 3 minutes to fill out, and I got to use the card immediately. I wish I'd taken a picture of everything before I scrambled to find a place to put it all!

(2) 20 oz bottles of Vitamin Water
(21) boxes of Rice A Roni
(2) boxes of Pasta Roni
(14) Herbal Essence/Aussie products (shampoo/conditioner, hairspray, mousse, gel, leave-in treatment, etc)
Total spent using 12 coupons, Kroger store sales, and the Kroger Shoppers Card: $42.18; Regular price would have been: $85.82. Almost 50% savings. I'm happy with the trip! We're good on rice and hair care for many months to come! :)

Amazon has created a new daily deal site called MyHabit. You will need to have or create an Amazon account. Now through August 1st you can enter the promo code SUMMER25 and get $25 off any purchase. This could make for some super sweet deals. They show new deals at 9:00 a.m. PST everyday, which means you will need to try to check in at 11:00 a.m. our time. The only category that I see stuff selling out of quickly is the children's items. But they have Men's, Women's and Children's, looks to be all clothes, shoes, and accessories. Be sure and check this out!
