Clearance Isles

It is always a good idea to check your clearance isles.  Using coupons on mark down items can score a lot of free or really inexpensive stuff.  I got 11 packages of Shout to Go wipes free, actually got $.05 extra to put on the rest of my order.  The overage paid for a bag of chips!  
Dollar General just moved up on my list of favorite places to shop!

Storing Your Stockpile

One of the first questions a new couponer has is "Where do you put all that stuff?"  A good thing about couponing is before long you will need to clean out those closets, something most of us put off, but now we have no choice! LOL!  Keep in mind I live in a small trailer, space is something I just don't have, so I am always on the look out for creative storage solutions.
Here are a few suggestions:

• Shoe Organizers that hang over the door are great for pantry doors.  They can hold tons of stuff, like mixes, spices, candy, snacks, crackers, etc.  And best of all you can make the bottom row things that you don't mind your children getting to so they can get their own snacks!
• One thing to always keep in mind is using a bin or drawer for certain items works out great.  When you get home, anything that can be taken out of the box take it out, mark the date with a sharpie on outside packaging if necessary and put it in a bin or drawer.  Boxes take up much more space than individual packages. 
• A storage bin works great for items that can be placed out in the garage.  Things like feminine products, hair care products that aren't under pressure, razors, cotton swabs, etc, can be placed in a bin and put in the garage on a shelf.  Out of the way and if you use a clear tub, easy to find. 
• Think creatively too.  A lot of people have unused furniture sitting around and don't even think about it.  Think of a dresser stored in your garage, a desk that is just holding a lamp might have a drawer for excess school supplies, night stands often have cabinets in them that you could put tissues or toilet paper in.  
• Clean out those closets and under those cabinets.  I am the worlds worst for having a messy closet, but there is nothing like finding a great deal on toilet paper or paper towels to make you shape up really quick!  A lot of times this will help you in the long run anyway.  You might find clothes or shoes that could go in a garage sale or to a resale shop.

Once you have the basics of couponing/deal finding down, it is good to know what other options you have.  Let's say you are a huge fan of a certain product and you know it is going on sale next week at the lowest price ever.  And you have a 4 of the coupons for the product, but that just isn't enough.  How do you go about getting more?  The short answer is Ebay. 

There are several resources out there for getting more of a certain coupon.  I have only tried one, and I had success, so I will probably stick with it.  Ebay has tons of dealers that have coupons sorted, clipped and ready to send, usually in quantities of 10 or 20.  You can bid on them for as low as $.99 or choose to Buy It Now and not have to wait for the auction to end.  This method is a little more expensive, but considering they have to have time to ship them to me, I would rather go with this option.

Kroger Trip

Me and the boys tagged along with Josh during one of his work trips to Jonesboro Wednesday and Thursday. While there, we went to a Kroger grocery store and found some good deals. Below is what I got for $42.18. I had to sign up for a Kroger Shopper's Card, but the process was nothing more than a short application which only took about 3 minutes to fill out, and I got to use the card immediately. I wish I'd taken a picture of everything before I scrambled to find a place to put it all!

(5) 50 oz bottles (32 loads) of Wisk
(2)14 oz bags of Skittles
(2) 20 oz bottles of Vitamin Water
(21) boxes of Rice A Roni
(2) boxes of Pasta Roni
(14) Herbal Essence/Aussie products (shampoo/conditioner, hairspray, mousse, gel, leave-in treatment, etc)

Total spent using 12 coupons, Kroger store sales, and the Kroger Shoppers Card: $42.18; Regular price would have been: $85.82. Almost 50% savings. I'm happy with the trip! We're good on rice and hair care for many months to come! :)

Home Today

Spending the day at home with my kiddos.  I will post matchups when I can.  Trip to Targert yesterday was nothing to blog about, were out of a lot and seemed to be having some pricing issues.  The Harps/Price Cutter ad for this week is the same as last week.  Will get to work on CV's and Marvin's next.  Speaking of, want to welcome a fellow Eastern Oklahoman I met yesterday.  She advised me that Marvin's now has the same policy as CV's!  Awesome news for us small towners with less options!

Amazon has created a new daily deal site called MyHabit.  You will need to have or create an Amazon account.  Now through August 1st you can enter the promo code SUMMER25 and get $25 off any purchase.  This could make for some super sweet deals.  They show new deals at 9:00 a.m. PST everyday, which means you will need to try to check in at 11:00 a.m. our time.  The only category that I see stuff selling out of quickly is the children's items.  But they have Men's, Women's and Children's, looks to be all clothes, shoes, and accessories.  Be sure and check this out!
